Weak base anion unit is a vessel in which an ion exchange process takes place. It is used when EMA (Chloride + Sulphate + Nitrate) is high in raw water. The anions Chlorides, Sulphates, Nitrates are exchanged with OH¯ ions available in the resin and water is demineralized. WBA units are used when the anion loads are high and in order to reduce the load on strong base anion unit. The WBA unit is regenerated with caustic solution to restore OH¯ ions. It is suitable for both manual and automatic operation. They are available as co-flow regeneration units.
