Oil Removal

Oil has two basic forms in wastewater:

1.
Free Floating (or) Non-emulsified: Oil that floats on the surface of the water and is more easily reduced before wastewater treatment. Non-emulsified oil can be reduced from water by skimming or an oil water separator. Skimming can be done at the source by "skimming off" the oil over a tank weir.

Oil Skimmer An oil skimmer is a device that is designed to reduce oil floating on a liquid surface. They are available in different types like tube type oil skimmers, belt type oil skimmer and others.

TREATMENT METHOD:

* Belt skimmers
* Tube skimmers
* Disc skimmers

Oil Water Separators (OWS) are used to recover and separate oil from water. OWS are designed to separate gross amounts of oil and suspended solids from the wastewater effluents of oil refineries, petrochemical plants, chemical plants, natural gas processing plants and other industrial oily water sources

TREATMENT METHOD:

* API Oil Water Separator
* TPI Oil Water Separator

2. Emulsified Oil: Emulsified oils are small oil droplets in the wastewater ranging in size from 10 to 150 microns. Emulsified oils do not float on the surface and will not rise to the surface by gravity alone.

TREATMENT METHOD:

*Dissolved Air Floatation Unit
